Metabolomics, or metabonomics, broadly aims to measure the global, dynamic metabolic responses of an organism to biological stimuli or genetic manipulation. For example, metabolomics analyzes the metabolites in biological fluids, such as urine and blood, and in tissues to determine the metabolic response of the organism to a physiological stimulus. In metabolomics, global or comprehensive metabolite profiling and multivariate statistical analysis play an important role in exploring novel metabolic mechanisms and early biomarkers associated with pathophysiological status. Our laboratory is interested in findings the metabolic association with diverse human diseases in biological fluids, aging in microorganisms and animals, environmental factors in plant materials such as tea, soybean, and ginseng root, and food fermentation.
